Supporting Harmony's Ministry
Visitors are welcome without any expectation of making a financial contribution. Those who wish to support Harmony's ministry may do so voluntarily.
Donations from congregation members and friends sustain Harmony's day-to-day ministry, covering the costs of worship, music, building maintenance, office administration, and outreach programs. In 2025, Harmony's operating expenses totalled approximately $93,000 -- funded primarily through the generosity of members and friends, with givings representing approximately 83% of operating revenue. Your support, at any level, makes this ministry possible.

How to Give
Sunday Offering
Offerings are received during Sunday worship. Envelopes are available at the church. Regular givings from congregation members form the foundation of Harmony's operating revenue.
An option that some people like is to donate to Harmony through Pre-Authorized Remittance (PAR) each month from their bank account.
By Cheque or Mail
Cheques may be made payable to Harmony United Church and mailed or delivered to 1 Shuniah Street, Thunder Bay, Ontario, P7A 2Y7. For designated giving (Mission and Service, Memorial, Outreach, or HALO), please note the intended fund on the memo line of your cheque.
E-Transfers
We welcome e-transfers. Please send by email to harmonyunited@tbaytel.net
Bequests
Occasionally, individuals have bequeathed a portion of their estate to the congregation
Designated Giving
In addition to general operating givings, Harmony members and friends make designated donations directed to specific funds and causes. In 2025, designated givings totalled approximately $14,000 -- supporting mission, local outreach, memorial work, and congregational life.
To make a designated gift, note the fund name on your envelope or cheque memo line, or contact the church office for assistance.
Mission & Service
The United Church of Canada's Mission and Service fund supports ministries, humanitarian work, and communities of faith across Canada and around the world. Harmony contributed $3,000 to Mission and Service in 2025.
Outreach
Outreach gifts support local organizations including the Current River Churches Food Cupboard, Grace Place, the Dew Drop Inn, Mission to Seafarers, Canadian Mental Health Association, Teen Challenge, and Thunder Pride. Outreach represented 61% of Harmony's 2025 designated giving.
Memorial Fund
The Memorial Fund receives gifts given in memory of congregation members and friends. These funds are directed according to the wishes of the donor or the oversight of the Memorial Fund committee.
HALO
HALO stands for Harmony Amalgamated Ladies’ Organization. It supports events in the life of the congregation, such as seasonal meals, luncheons, and fellowship gatherings that bring Harmony's community together.
